What Is a Dental Emergency?
Dental emergencies come in many forms, but the best way to prevent an emergency happening in the first place is with preventative care like regular dental cleanings and checkups. If there has been an accident, like a broken tooth, or if you have a toothache, these types of dental issues should be addressed immediately to avoid future damage.
A dental emergency is any mouth-related occurrence that requires immediate attention. Extreme pain or discomfort is a perfect example of a symptom that requires immediate care.
Some issues that seem like dental emergencies don’t always require immediate care. If you have a chipped tooth with no pain, no severe bleeding, then you may be able to wait a few days before seeing a dentist.
If you can go about your normal daily routine without being negatively impacted by discomfort or pain, then the dental issue likely does not need to be addressed immediately.
It’s good to realize a small dental issue with no pain or discomfort can lead to an emergency if not addressed in a timely manner. Do you have discomfort in your mouth? Then its a good idea to schedule an appointment with your dentist sooner rather than later.
